Karen Bernstein is Co-founder and Chairman of BioCentury, which provides business-oriented information services to a global audience of life science executives and investors from offices in the U.S. and Europe. Now in its 25th year of service, the company publishes BioCentury, which specializes in analysis and commentary on issues affecting biopharma industry development, corporate performance and shareholder value. The company also publishes a translational science journal, BioCentury Innovations, and BioCentury Week in Review, which provides a weekly compendium of biopharma deals, clinical and regulatory events, and financial transactions. BioCentury's business information platform also includes BioCentury Extra, a web-based daily news service, web-based business-oriented databases, and bioindustry conferences on Wall Street, in Europe and in Asia.
In 2005, the annual gathering of biotechnology chief executive officers at The Biotech Meeting in Laguna Niguel, California, inducted Karen into their Hall of Fame, citing her lifetime contribution to the biotech community. In 2007, Karen received a Special Recognition award at the American Liver Foundation's Salute to Excellence, honoring individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to biotechnology and medical innovation.
Dr. Bernstein, who has been writing and publishing on biotechnology topics since 1987, holds a Ph.D. in political science from Stanford University, and a B.A. in politics and history from Brandeis University. She served for many years as a member of the Brandeis University Science Advisory Council.
