Karen Bernstein
Bernstein is Co-founder, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of BioCentury, which provides business-oriented information services to a global audience of life science executives and investors from offices in the U.S. and Europe. Now in its 18th year of service, the company publishes BioCentury, the Bernstein Report on BioBusiness®, which specializes in analysis and commentary on issues affecting biopharma industry development, corporate performance and shareholder value. The company also publishes a translational science journal, SciBX: Science-Business eXchange, in a joint publishing venture with Nature Publishing Group. BioCentury's business information platform also includes BioCentury Extra, a web-based daily news service, web-based business-oriented databases, and bioindustry conferences on Wall Street, in Europe and Asia.
In 2005, the annual gathering of biotechnology chief executive officers at The Biotech Meeting in Laguna Niguel, California, inducted Bernstein into their Hall of Fame, citing her lifetime contribution to the biotech community. In 2007, she received a Special Recognition award at the American Liver Foundation's Salute to Excellence, honoring individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to biotechnology and medical innovation.
Bernstein, who has been writing and publishing on biotechnology topics since 1987, holds a PhD in political science from Stanford University, and a BA in politics and history from Brandeis University. She is a member of the Brandeis University Science Advisory Council.
