All of KGI's educational programs prepare students to excel in a global workforce. However, in addition to courses taught at its Claremont campus, KGI also offers several international programs in collaboration with partner organizations around the world.
These include the 'Biocon KGI Certificate in Biosciences' developed in collaboration with Biocon, India's largest biotech company. The Biocon Academy offers a 16-week program taught entirely in Bangalore to develop industry-ready talent for India's rapidly growing biopharmaceutical sector. The course utilizes a "flipped" curriculum, with synchronous and asynchronous transmission of courses and instructional material developed and offered by KGI faculty and facilitated by preceptors in Bangalore. In addition to technical sessions and classroom assignments from KGI, students get hands-on experience in various Biocon facilities.
KGI also offers a one-of-a-kind degree program established jointly with Mazumdar-Shaw Cancer Center (MSCC). Students in the two-year program gain a deep understanding of the molecular basis of disease and have multiple opportunities to work on real projects involving premier companies and research institutes in both the United States and India. While the first year of the program is spent in residence at KGI in California, students return to Bangalore for laboratory rotations and further laboratory experiences or coursework in the second year. A summer laboratory internship, clinical trials experience, business internship, or additional coursework is performed in the U.S. or in Bangalore. Graduates of this innovative program are highly qualified for careers in India's growing life sciences industry as well as working with clinical trials. KGI is also in the process of developing additional international programs in China and other locations so please check back frequently to learn about the latest program offerings.
