TMP Year 2012-13
The Team Masters Project distills the KGI mission. This capstone experience marries the curricular and the applied, providing value to students, faculty and sponsoring entities.
For students, the project is a graduation requirement. It is also an acceleration of the "real world" experiences they gained during their summer internships.
Faculty members benefit from exposure to a company's strategy, culture and operations. Many KGI professors incorporate industry lessons into their coursework and research, creating opportunity for all students to benefit from true life experiences.
Corporate sponsors enjoy numerous advantages with their collaborations. TMPs enable them to solve problems or explore opportunities that would otherwise be back-burnered due to lack of professional bandwidth. Student teams can bring a fresh perspective to issues meaningful to sponsors. By managing a remote TMP, corporate managers gain valuable insights about their own managerial skills.
TMP Year
All these benefits unfold throughout the nine-month life of the typical Team Masters Project.
During this period-known as the TMP Year-the ongoing cycle of project initiation/planning/implementation/results delivery takes place. Sometimes the cycle hums along in the right direction; sometimes it halts and loops back before heading where it needs to go; but always the cycle is fascinating.
