SoCal is great. The weather is perfect even though they complain about it being to cold/hot. I was able to see San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, and Mexico. That's not bad for one trip.

I was a little nervous at first because I've never worked in a lab setting before doing research. The people in my lab made it really easy by easing me in and helping me out, then gradually giving me the skills to work independently without their constant guidance. My advisor was a great resource and made me feel like I was an asset to the lab, and that my ideas were valuable.

The entire program was just the most satisfying experiences. I learned how to used different lab equipment, different data analysis software, but most importantly I learned what research is all about. KGI has State-of-the-art lab facilities and the entire faculty and staff are very helpful and friendly.

I feel I got the most education from the company visits because I am looking to work, and possibly do research, directly in industry. It was nice to get a first hand view of the facilities and working conditions at actual biotech companies that have been successful for the past few years.
