Clinical and Regulatory Affairs Student Spotlight: Anna Carroll
Anna Carroll is from Santa Clara University where she graduated with a combined Science and Psychology degree. Prior to KGI, Anna was on the premed track and had contemplated going to medical school. She is about to graduate from KGI's MBS program in May 2010 with a focus on Clinical and Regulatory Affairs which is one of the many increasing challenges of the biotech industry.
For Anna, this focus track provides a wide range of biotech business job opportunities: science and technology management, clinical trials design, marketing, or regulatory specialist-- all with ample room for upward career mobility. Anna interned at Advanced Bionics Corporation, LLC (AB) where she worked as a regulatory affairs specialist handling customer feedback/complaint, reporting to the FDA regarding adverse events and post-marketing assessment of products.
"I learned a great deal about working in the life science industry and how to communicate effectively with team peers and upper management. Getting work done in a professional environment is different from anything I've experienced before," regarding her internship at AB.
For her Team Masters Project (TMP) Anna worked with Kinetic Concepts Incorporated (KCI) where she served as team leader and project manager. Her responsibilities included team management, working with diverse students, and working with corporate liaisons to drive the project timeline and deliverables.
Anna is interested in a career as a clinical trials manager at a non-profit organization in the Los Angeles area. Find out more about Anna's internship responsibilities and more about her future position. KGI is dedicated to helping students realize their potential as the next generation leaders in the life science industry.
