KGI students take a look into industry bioethics
Be sure to check out the latest edition of KGI's premiere newsletter dedicated completely to ethical issues in the life sciences industry, the Kethical Dilemma. The final edition for the 2010-2011 school year features articles spotlighting students, faculty and alum including:
- Strategy professor Dr. Daniel Byrd's responses to a poll that KGI students took when asked how they would respond in compromising ethical scenarios.
- An interview with five alumni regarding what ethics means to them in the workplace.
Graduating editor and founding force behind the Kethical Dilemma, Michelle Pesce, will be sorely missed by her dedicated staff and offers these words of wisdom for any present or future readers or writers for the Kethical Dilemma.
"We, the KGI ethics committee, began the Kethical Dilemma with the intent to raise awareness of ethical decision-making in industry. In talking with KGI alumni for the 'Alumni Perspectives' article, Ethics Committee members had to think about real-life scenarios and the different types of decisions that we will be expected to make on a daily basis, most of which are 'gray' areas. As students at KGI, even we are faced with decisions in our projects that are on both an individual level, but also impact our working teams. KGI can be a good training ground for us to start making decisions that uphold our integrity as individuals and to the institution so that we can continue making sound decisions in the workplace."
