J. David Rozzell
David Rozzell has spent almost 20 years in the biotechnology industry with a focus on the use of enzymes and biotransformations for the production of chemicals. He began as a laboratory scientist in enzymology at Genetics Institute, progressing to the position of Director of Biocatalysis Research before moving to Celgene Corporation as a Director of Research for chemical production. In 1991, he was recruited to the position of Vice-President of Research at ExoGene Corporation and promoted to President and COO one year later. In 1996, Dr. Rozzell established Biocatalytics, Inc., a biotechnology company focused on the discovery and development of new enzymes and their applications. The main focus of his current work is the application of new biocatalytic processes for the production of chiral pharmaceutical intermediates. Dr. Rozzell earned a PhD in chemistry from Harvard University.
