James A. Wilkins
Dr. Wilkins is now the President of Sensorin. He started his career as a scientist at Genentech in 1987 where, among other projects, he developed isolation and purification protocols for rtPA (Activase), a thrombolytic agent. In early 1990's, he served as Group Leader in protein chemistry for Otsuka America Pharmaceutical Co. In 1993, he joined Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where he started the Process Science program and later became Vice President of Process Sciences and Manufacturing. He has also consulted for the Department of Chemical Engineering at Yale University in the areas of process development, manufacturing and compliance issues, and is currently a member and consultant for Keck Biotechnology Resource Laboratory at Yale. In 2004, he became the Director of Technology Assessment and Transfer at Genentech. Dr. Wilkins received his BA in Biology from University of Texas, Austin and his PhD in Biochemistry from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biophysics at the Johns Hopkins University.
