Life Science Briefing Series
Future dates to be announced
Advance your life science career by developing a comprehensive and strategic understanding of the global health care industry -all while simultaneously networking with industry leaders and peers.
Life science business is complex and demanding. This multi-trillion dollar industry - pharma, biotech, medical device, diagnostic, biofuels, and agricultural biotech -is characterized by a number of overarching similarities such as the discovery-to-commercialization life cycle. Yet each industry sector is distinctive, shaped by specific regulatory, financial, competitive, and other forces.
The Life Science Briefing Series (LSBS) consists of five information-rich days - each of which is devoted to a different sector. LSBS provides attendees with critical insights about sector makeup, critical technologies, business drivers, competitive environment, regulatory framework, challenges and opportunities...all within the broad context of global life sciences.
Starting with our overview of biology and bioengineering class, the week proceeds to day-long explorations of the biopharma sector, the biofuels and ag bio sector, the diagnostics sector and the medical device sector.
Business issues
Not only is life science one of the most dynamic sectors in the global economy - it is also one of the most challenging, with daunting risks hopefully offset by the promise of financial and societal reward. Life science firms grapple with increasingly stringent regulatory requirements, a parched financing landscape, and dramatic shifts in demographics. Clearly, in order to be effective, life science professionals and those wishing to enter the arena need the most current information about the industry and its pre-eminent categories.
Who should attend?
- Professionals from life science companies who require cross-over knowledge about a new sector - for example, bio pharma managers who need to equip themselves for a medical device project
- Service providers (e.g., lawyers, accountants, consulting firms) who need a more rigorous framework for understanding life science sectors
- Individuals who are new to the life science industry
Format
Each one-day class (8:30am to 4:30 pm) features an overview and insight by sector expert(s) plus lively group exercises
