Student Health Insurance
KGI Student Health Insurance Requirement, 2014-2015: Health insurance is an investment in your personal welfare and peace of mind.
SHIP is a Platinum tier PPO health plan (as designated by the Affordable Care Act criteria) designed just for students attending the Claremont Colleges.
All KGI College students are automatically enrolled in SHIP unless a waiver is submitted and approved. Please see below for waiver information.

If a student can document participation in an alternative health insurance plan with equivalent or greater coverage than SHIP, that student may choose to opt out of SHIP. Students who wish to opt out of SHIP for 2014 - 2015 must submit their request at the online portal.
Want to Waive Out of SHIP?
In order to qualify for a waiver, you must have other insurance coverage that meets the waiver criteria, and coverage must be active prior to August 25, 2014. The deadline to waive the SHIP plan is September 5, 2014. Please note: Your coverage will be verified.
Please review your coverage thoroughly to ensure comparable coverage prior to completing the waiver form. You are responsible for all medical expenses resulting from services that are not covered by your health insurance.

In order to waive coverage, your plan must meet the following criteria:
- Coverage must be continuous (no break or termination) for the entire academic year;
- Deductible of $1000 individual ($2000 family) or less per policy year;
- Maximum lifetime benefit must be unlimited; and
- Claims must be paid by, and Underwriting company must be owned, operated, and headquartered in the United States and must be in full compliance with applicable federal laws.
