Kambiz Pashneh-Tala Yazdi, MBS '16 | Student Body President
What I do: Largely support members of Student Government to foster a culture of unity and inclusivity at KGI and increasing KGI's presence as member of the Claremont Colleges.
Favorite part of my role: All the wonderful people I have the pleasure of meeting and representing an institution that has had a profoundly beneficial impact on my life.
What I do for fun: Conversing, jumping into bodies of water, urban exploring, hiking, listening to music, watching British surrealist/absurdist satire, and meditating.
Aditya Payannavar, MBS '16 | Student Body Treasurer
What I do: I work with the student government to help organize, prioritize and allocate the student government funds to improve the overall KGI experience of incoming as well as continuing students. The main focus this year will be to optimize student government expenditures in a holistic manner, so as to build and add value to our ever evolving skill set.
Favorite part of my role: Working with the wonderful members of this year's student government and helping them in their budget allocation decisions.
What I do for fun: I like hiking, eating A LOT of In-N-Out, watching TV shows and learning about new pharmaceuticals in the market.
Divya Gangrade, MBS '16 | Communications Chair
What I do: I keep the student body informed about events and activities organized by the student government and also activities and events at the other 7Cs. I ensure there is transparency and two-way communication between the student government and the student body.
Favorite part of my role: To flood everyone's inbox with emails! But essentially to inform all students all the fun activities and events happening!
What I do for fun: I like to dance, go out on treks and camping trips and explore new places. But most importantly, I love food. I also love watching TV shows and movies all day!
Jason Kerr, MBS '16 | Professional Development Chair
What I do: I will focus improving the professional image of students at KGI and prepare students in acting professionally at events and interviews. I will be working with Angela Cossey in providing mock interviews with first year students with older students to prepare them for interviews.
Favorite part of my role: I get to ensure that all KGI students represent the school in the high professional mannerism.
What I do for fun: I like kayaking, playing badminton, and watching Netflix.
Heather Petty, MBS '16 | Ethics and Judicial Chair
What I do: My role as ethics and judicial chair is primarily to help enforce the honor code set in the student handbook and foster student development and maintenance of high ethical standards. In this endeavor, I promote and implement ways to increase student consciousness/awareness of ethical conduct and strive to clarify any uncertainties. I serve on the faculty committee for honor code violations as the student voice. My goal is to create the precedence of all KGI students/alumni as professionals who uphold the highest ethical standards of conduct in every facet of their career.
Favorite part of my role: I love having the ability to create a safe environment for students to voice any ethical concerns they may have and fostering the KGI student image of upholding the highest ethical standards in all manner of conduct.
What I do for fun: I am an active runner, hiker, swimmer, global traveler, and explorer of all places new. I love being outside, lifting weights, and am a gymnast for fun. I'm always planning my next trip to a new place and currently have a road trip across the US in the works! In my downtime I reminisce about my study abroad days at Sussex University in Brighton by enjoying a cup of tea and reading a book.
Victoria-Lynn Ramos, MBS '16 | Social Chair
What I do: My role in student government is creating and initiating all of KGI's social events for the upcoming school year. These events include holiday parties, local outings, collaborative games, and destressing activities during finals week. My ultimate goal for this position is to unify the different programs of KGI to facilitate interpersonal connections and promote KGI's school spirit. I would also like to incorporate philanthropy in these social events to foster KGI's humanitarian nature.
Favorite part of my role: My favorite part of this role would be the fact that it is extremely flexible, meaning I am open to hearing anyone's ideas and suggestions to make an event happen. I also get to a chance to be creative and promote service outreach events simultaneously.
What I do for fun: I am a super big advocate of the arts. I love to paint, which is a hobby that I picked up from my dad. I also love music and dance, so I really enjoy going to concerts and musicals. Traveling is also a big hobby of mine and I love to learn about different cultures through food, music, and religion by traveling to different places with my family.
Claire Whiteside, MBS '16 | 2nd Year MBS Representative
What I do: I will focus on tasks to improve the overall experience for 2nd year MBS students as well as curriculum initiatives. I will be working with the Assistant Dean on developing tactics to enrich current KGI courses and to provide quality resources for faculty and students.
Favorite part of my role: I get to represent the most amazing class of 2016 (woohoo!) and work diligently to be their voice, advocate, and overall mama bear.
What I do for fun: I love to go on walks/hikes with my dog, Lily. I love to see movies, drink wine, travel (near and far), play outside, dance, and binge watch shows on netflix.
Rajan Vaidya, SoP '18 | PharmD Second Year (P2) Student Representative
What I do: I am responsible for being the voice of the PharmD students within the KGI Student Government.
Favorite part of my role: I want to help build one unified voice for the Keck Graduate Institute, through the collaboration of the School of Pharmacy with the School of Applied Life Sciences.
What I do for fun: I enjoy outdoor activities and meeting new people.
Wasainika Saini, MBS '16 | International Student Representative
What I do: I will be working along with other leaders of the student body to help smoothen the transition of all the incoming international students and to familiarize them with the US educational atmosphere. Apart from the formal activities, I will also be organizing various international festivals on a small scale throughout the entire school year.
Favorite part of my role: I get to represent all the amazing incoming as well as current international students and thus learn about various cultures and help everyone have a successful professional experience at KGI.
What I do for fun: I love to swim, dance and hang out with my friends watching movies at home. I also like exploring various places and always want to get out of the house!!
