Rare Disease Day

Rare diseases are not rare at all. They afflict over 20 million people in the United States, according to the National Institutes of Health. On February 28, the Center for Rare Disease Therapies at Keck Graduate Institute will join millions of people around the world in observing Rare Disease Day in an effort to increase awareness of these disorders and the problems that patients and their families face daily from them.

Orphan Drug Workshop 2010

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and Keck Graduate Institute will host the first-ever workshop on developing Orphan Drug Applications on February 25-26, 2010. Under the guidance of Dr. Tim Coté, Director of the FDA’s Office of Orphan Product Development, and FDA staffers, attendees will create an application for orphan drug designation to be submitted to the FDA at the close of the workshop. Attendance is limited and is subject to approval by the FDA.
