Tamanna PrasharAdjunct Professor
Tamanna Prashar is an accomplished supply chain and operations professional with over a decade of experience across engineering and leadership roles in the medical device industry. She is currently the Director of Operations at Covidien Neurovascular, the fastest growing division of Covidien Inc. Mrs. Prashar joined the company in 2010 and has held various roles across supply chain, planning, strategic sourcing, manufacturing and operations. She is a six sigma green belt and has led numerous kaizen and lean focused events at the organization.
In her current role, she manages over 150 (direct and indirect) employees. In her role, Mrs. Prashar works cross functionally with R&D, Product Development, Engineering, Clinical, Regulatory, Marketing, and Sales to ensure on-time release of compliant, high quality products to patients and physicians.
Mrs. Prashar, an industrial engineer by training, started her career at Guidant Corporation, the leading medical device company prior to its acquisition by Boston Scientific. Mrs. Prashar held multiple roles at the company, executing Lean Operational Excellence programs on the production floor, managing incoming inspections, receiving, and material handling, and strategic sourcing, where her team drove activities and initiatives yielding over $5M in annualized savings Year over Year to the bottom line. She also lead a global Supply Chain Planning organization, and functioned as the Integration Lead to centralize all of Materials and Planning across all Business Units of Boston Scientific.
Mrs. Prashar graduated with honors from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, with a Bachelors and Masters in Industrial Engineering, and holds an MBA from The Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. She has authored several technical articles and is a frequent speaker at company events, business schools and other local professional organizations.
