Yvonne Klaue received a Diploma in Biology from the University Of Kassel, Germany (2001) and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University Of East Anglia in Norwich, UK (2005). She did her postdoctoral studies at the Institute of Biotechnology in Cuernavaca, Mexico working with Rotavirus and UC Irvine (2006-2009) doing research on Alternative RNA splicing. She was the first graduate of the Postdoctoral Professional Master in Bioscience Management (PPM) program at the Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) and received her degree in 2010. Upon completion, she worked as a research scientist and project manager on the development of a point-of-care device for infectious disease detection at KGI. She has held the Administrative Director position for the PPM program since May 2012.
This course is designed around four broad themes: effective writing, oral communication, teamwork and leadership. Classes will be a blend of interactive lectures from faculty and industry executives, and workshops. Oral and written exercises will be coordinated with individual and team projects in ALS 320 and ALS 359, and students will participate in faculty and peer reviews to help each other improve professional skills.
