Dr. Dhruv Sareen
Disease Modeling and Discovering Therapeutics with Induced Pluripotent Stem Cells
Dhruv Sareen is currently the Director of the Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Core Facility and a Research Scientist Faculty at Cedars-Sinai Regenerative Medicine Institute. His main research interests' center on characterizing pathways involved in motor neuron degeneration in the spinal muscular atrophy patient and amyotrophic lateral-sclerosis iPSCs. He has optimized small-molecule assisted differentiation protocols for various neuronal cells from PSCs. Now he is developing high-content screening tools using SMA patient iPSCs to discover novel therapeutic compounds. As Director of the iPSC Core Facility, he oversees the generation of various diseased and healthy patient "footprint-free" iPSCs from various somatic tissues. Dr. Sareen received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin.
