When Grant Bitter left Amgen more than a decade ago to start his own research company he considered going to either San Francisco or San Diego. For family reasons Bitter remained in the Conejo Valley although in retrospect getting his company BitTech off the ground would have been easier in those other cities where more activity, networking and collaboration takes place in the biotech industry.

A new book discussing biotechnology programs throughout the US and around the globe features a chapter about KGI’s Master of Bioscience program. Best Practices in Biotechnology Education includes the article “The Professional Master of Bioscience Program at Keck Graduate Institute,” authored by T. Gregory Dewey, KGI’s senior vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty, and Jane Tirrell, assistant dean of faculty.

Next Generation Bioscience Leaders Featured in Claremont Courier

The biotech industry is growing. At the same time, the number of women who are looking to be leaders in the growing field is also increasing. Keck Graduate Institute and Smith College Executive Education for Women recently joined forces to give 36 female bioscience leaders from across the nation, and even internationally, an extra boost when the schools put on the Next Generation Bioscience Leaders Conference, held in Claremont from January 13-18.
