Prof. Croughan to Give Keynote at AAICHE Annual Symposium
Professor Matthew Croughan, PhD, will give the keynote address at the Northern California chapter of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers' (AICHE) 49th Annual Symposium on April 14, 2011, in Berkeley, California.
This year's theme will be, "A Look into the Future of Bio-factories - Exploring Technical and Manufacturing Innovations to Meet Increasing Demand."
Croughan, KGI's George B. and Joy Rathmann Professor and director of the Amgen Bioprocessing Center, will give the keynote address on "Therapeutic Proteins, Specialty Chemicals, and Biofuels: The Past, Present, and Future of Biofactories."
The symposium will comprise of a half day of presentations and exhibits featuring the latest technology development and products and services in the biotechnology field.
Attendees will hear from thought leaders, scientists and chemical engineers about novel biomaterials, facility design, and process control strategies from Bay Area industries such as biotechnology, refineries, biofuels and biomaterials.
In addition, local biotech companies will be in attendance, including Coker Pump & Equipment Company, Optimal Biotech Group, LLC, Pall Life Sciences, Avantor Performance Materials, Life Technologies, Purolator - PecoFacet, Alfa Laval, EMD Millipore, Commissioning Agents, Inc., and Bug Lab.
