Making Your Gift
There are a number of ways to make a gift to support KGI, designed to meet your needs and philanthropy goals.
Credit Card, Wire Transfer, or Check
Contributions may be made by check, credit card, and by EFT or wire transfer.
Credit card contributions can be made on line at https://supportkgi.org.
Checks should be made payable to Keck Graduate Institute or KGI and may be mailed to
Office of Advancement
Keck Graduate Institute
535 Watson Drive
Claremont, CA 91711
For your convenience, gifts of cash can be made via Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) or by wire transfer; please contact Janet Stenmo at janet_stenmo[at symbol]kgi.edu or (909) 607-0179 for routing and account information. For reasons of security, cash should never be sent through the mail; gifts in that form should be personally delivered to the Office of Advancement at KGI.
Securities
Both publicly-traded and privately-held securities can be used to make a gift to support KGI.
Gifts of publicly-traded securities should be directed to
Smith Barney
456 West Foothill Blvd.
Claremont, CA 91711
ATTN: Hans Abenes
P: 909-625-9783
F: 909-621-6046
Gifts of privately-held securities require more specific attention. Please contact Karen Schneider, Interim Vice President for Advancement, at karen_schneider[at symbol]kgi.edu or 909-607-0139 for assistance.
Pledges and Planned Gifts
Making a pledge gift to KGI allows our donors to make a larger gift that might be possible in one lump sum. Your pledge can be paid in monthly, quarterly or semi-annual installments. For example, a pledge of $600 can be paid as a $50 monthly payment or a $125 quarterly payment over the course of a year. Even a gift of $10 per month - just the cost of a pizza - allows a donor to make a $120 annual gift. Pledging is an effective way to manage your giving in a way that is "budget-friendly". For more information on making a pledge gift, contact Merlene Singleton, Director of Annual Giving, at merlene_singleton[at symbol]kgi.edu or 909-607-8592.
Planned giving is a way of supporting KGI that enables our donors to make larger gifts than they reasonably could make from annual income. So, by definition, a planned gift is any major gift made while living or at death as part of a donor's overall financial and/or estate planning.
There are many options and instruments available that can meet the needs of our donors. Gift planning is a deliberate process in which KGI Advancement professionals work with each donor, in collaboration with the donor's attorney and/or financial and tax advisors, to identify the donor's precise philanthropic goals and to construct a giving strategy that is specific to each donor's unique personal situation. For more information on making a planned gift to KGI, please contact Karen Schneider, Vice President for Advancement, at karen_schneider[at symbol]kgi.edu or 909-607-0139.
Other Gift Types
KGI welcomes gifts of other types, including life insurance, tangible personal property, real estate, remainder interests in property and oil, gas and mineral interests. Acceptance of such gifts is determined by careful consideration of a number of issues and approval by the KGI Board of Trustees. For assistance with such a gift, please contact Karen Schneider, Interim Vice President for Advancement, at karen_schneider[at symbol]kgi.edu or 909-607-0139.
