Faculty Openings

The Keck Graduate Institute of Applied Life Sciences (KGI), located in Claremont, California, invites applications for a professor of management. We are particularly interested in applicants with a research and teaching background in organizational behavior, strategy, or the management of technology.

Established in 1997 as the newest of the Claremont Colleges, KGI is an interdisciplinary research institution and graduate school focused on the bioscience industries. The institute has launched a leading two-year professional graduate degree, the Masters of Bioscience, which combines applied science and engineering, MBA-style management education, and ethics. Over its first few years the program has placed over 175 graduates into management and technical positions within the bioscience industry, consulting firms, and finance. KGI currently employees an interdisciplinary faculty consisting of 20 full time professors.

Responsibilities

Working with KGI’s faculty, expand the management curriculum to further KGI’s mission of preparing future leaders of the bioscience industries. Teach in the management portion of KGI’s Masters of Bioscience professional program. Pursue a research agenda that builds management knowledge surrounding the bioscience industries.

All levels considered. Senior level candidates applying for the position will also be considered for the Riggs Chair in Management, a chair recently endowed in honor of KGI’s founder Henry Riggs.

Preferred Experience

The successful candidate must have demonstrated strong teaching skills capable of teaching at the MBA and/or executive education level. By virtue of experience, education, or research, should be able to develop course material focused on science based industry. Should have a strong research interest in management issues surrounding science based firms, ideally with publications in this area.

Competitive salary and benefits commensurate with US business schools, and a start-up fund to help launch research. Interaction with faculty from the other Claremont Colleges, including the Drucker and Ito Graduate School of Management, is encouraged.
