Robert Doebler, PhD
Lecturer and Director, Marsh A. Cooper Bioengineering Laboratory

Areas of Expertise:

Dr. Robert Doebler has 15 years of experience in biological spectroscopy and imaging, with an emphasis on the spectroscopic and thermodynamic characterization of proteinlipid interactions, in addition to more recent work in the following areas: rapid detection of pathogenic organisms using real-time PCR and isothermal DNA amplification; atomic force and scanning transmission electron microscopy; chipbased capillary electrophoresis; and engineering design. Over the past several years Dr. Doebler has built and validated hand-held devices capable of rapid sample prep and detecting real-time isothermal DNA amplification reactions. Dr. Doebler has performed as a researcher and project manager on KGI's successful efforts on DARPA HISSS Phases 1-3 (Prime: Northrop Grumman Corp.), as well as PI on DHS IBADS Phase 1B and 2 (Prime: GHC Technologies). Currently, Dr. Doebler is a key performer and project manager on DHS RABIS Phase 1b and 2A (Prime: Ionian Technologies).
