Business Systems Analyst, Ceres Inc., Thousand Oaks, CA (4/7/08) Job Description Ceres, Inc., a leader in the development of energy crops is seeking a Business Systems Analyst for its Research Informatics group. The Business Analyst will provide a liaison between the R&D organization and IT. A key area of focus will be the establishment and support of IT systems for plant breeding and agronomy research. Responsibilities - Communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers to analyze and document information needs and functional requirements. Create specifications for systems that meet user requirements.
- Provide technical assistance to identify, evaluate, deploy and configure systems.
- Ensure overall success of testing, including results verification and release sign-off.
- Provide end-user support for software used in plant breeding and agronomy research. This includes configuration of software, adapting to new breeding protocols, interacting with vendors to ensure timely updates to software and issue resolution, and training of users
- Ensure information critical to breeding and agronomy is represented in the centralized database and mechanisms exist to extract and analyze necessary information.
- Establish and support mobile data capture. This includes identifying requirements, organizing and testing appropriate hardware and software, implementing agreed upon solution and integration of data.
Skills/Requirements Required Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree or equivalent and 3-5 years of IT experience as a developer and/or business analyst or equivalent professional experience.
- Strong analytical and product management skills required, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of managers, subject matter experts and developers.
Preferred Qualifications: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biology, Crop Science, Agronomy, or Computer Science-related field.
- Effective project management skills.
- Database programming experience.
- Knowledge of SQL (Oracle, MS SQL Server), data query and reporting tools, analysis tools (SAS).
