Director of Admissions

The Director of Admissions is responsible for the daily management and administration of the KGI Admissions Office. The Director implements admissions strategies based on best practices by maintaining an awareness of issues and trends in graduate admission, higher education, testing, and active membership in professional organizations.

Supervision
Directly manages and supervises the Enrollment Management Coordinator, Admissions Recruiter, and Admissions Assistant. Indirectly supervises the admissions student workers / KGI Student Ambassadors

Admissions Committee

  • Serves as member of the KGI Admissions Committee
  • Ensures applicant files are prepared for the Admissions Committee in a timely manner
  • Makes recommendations for admission to faculty
  • Coordinates with KGI faculty to screen and interview applicants

Design and implement recruitment strategies

  • In collaboration with the Dean of Admissions and the Admissions Recruiter, develops plan for graduate school fair travel. Strategically establish events based historical data, current regional interest, and tactically chosen demographics
  • Assigns graduate school fair staffing with the Admissions Recruiter
  • Develops and maintain close working relationships with key faculty and staff contacts at universities and colleges across the country
  • Represents the institution at graduate school fairs and campus visits
  • Develops and maintain applicant pool data management systems

Budget

  • In consultation with the Dean of Admissions, develops budget plans for the Admissions Office
  • Prepares detailed annual budget request and coordinates revisions

Visitation and Preview Days

  • In collaboration with the Admissions Coordinator, coordinates all aspects of on campus visitation and preview days
  • Works with faculty, student ambassadors, student services, financial aid, and career services to create informational programming for prospective students

Prospective and admitted student communication

  • Develops, maintain and execute Admissions Office communication plans, including letters, mailers, and electronic communication to all prospects, in-progress applicants, submitted applicants, and admitted students
  • Interviews and counsels prospective students and families
  • Designs and implement yield activities for admitted students

Coordinate KGI fellowship/scholarship program

  • Works with the Dean of Admissions and Budgeting Office to meet institutional tuition discount rate strategies
  • Develops rubrics to assess merit based scholarship and/or fellowship awards
  • Works with the Office of Development and make awards based on funds available and expected donations
  • Evaluates applications based on faculty recommendations and interviews to award fellowships and/or scholarships. Make strategic award offers to admitted applicants in order to meet institutional enrollment goals. Work with supervisor to ensure fairness, accuracy, and name the scholarships awarded
  • Sets deadlines communicates acceptance procedures to admitted applicants

Master user of the ApplyYourself admission system

  • Designs email templates and updates HTML code for prospect, application, and event modules, including templates and email cycles

Other duties as assigned

  • Create and maintain admitted student website
  • Represent the Admissions Office in various campus committees, including search committees
  • Train admissions staff on admission procedures
  • Supports orientation, commencement, and other student programming

Job Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and prior experience in an academic setting. A master’s degree and prior experience with professional school admissions or graduate admissions is preferred. A high level of energy and commitment are required, as is the ability to travel extensively and often. The position requires easy rapport with students and young people, a professional manner and outlook, as well as strong organizational skills.
