Principal/Partner - Growing Life Sciences Consulting Firm  (9/27/08)

Our client - an international Life Sciences strategy consulting firm - is led by a team of industry experts and insiders, who are at the forefront of thought leadership in the sectors they serve. They offer clients an understanding of science, knowledge of the markets based on deep fundamental research data, and a team with real world experience and skill. With this, they assist leading companies with growth strategies - including market analysis, product, portfolio and technology assessments, mergers and acquisitions, and organizational change.

This is a terrific ground floor growth opportunity to join a high-energy team and a high-growth company. To drive the firm's growth, the Principal or Partner develops and leads engagements to define the growth strategies for their clients. Rather than just analyzing client data and information, they conduct primary research and fundamental market analysis to challenge client data. And because of this data, the Principal or Partner regularly develops and publishes a strategic review of a particular market sector, and utilizes this knowledge and expertise as a speaker or panel member at an industry conference.

For the client, this data serves as unbiased third party information - real and substantiated market facts - and a basis to develop strategies and to make decisions on how best to grow the business. Through the Principal or Partner, the client is also offered perspective and access to a broader network of technology and current thinking.

For the Principal or Partner, the firm offers the ability to focus on Life Sciences consulting, and the opportunity to work with all sizes of clients - from start-up Venture Capital backed companies through international industry leaders. And, working on growth strategies vs. cost cutting and process efforts, there is not the need to work at the client site resulting in the reduced (read negligible) need for travel.

Therefore, besides being an individual who is a recognized as an expert in a particular Life Sciences sector, we expect the candidate selected will also offer:

  • A Scientific degree, with an advanced degree preferred - MSc, MBA, or PhD
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with approximately seven to twelve years of demonstrated accomplishment in the Life Sciences or the Healthcare Industry, obtained by working in a company, in Consulting or Research - or in combination. However, some strategic consulting experience is required.
  • A history of growing a business or profit center, and the desire to work as a leader or member of a small team to build upon the current strengths of the company to grow the business
  • Thought leadership in a Life Sciences sector - and the desire and curiosity to further develop proprietary knowledge
  • A strong Rolodex with the demonstrated ability to develop new business
  • A resilient, analytical, articulate and influencing personality who can relate at all levels of an organization
  • A high-energy leader and motivator who is able to offer vision for the pursuit of new opportunities
  • Demonstrated abilities to consult and advise at the most senior levels
  • The business judgment and financial acumen to build the business from both a strategic and profit-motivated perspective
  • A high degree of competence, with well refined strategic and conceptual skills, and a demonstrated ability to solve complex and multifaceted problems
  • Computer literacy to include a command of Excel, PowerPoint and others

An outstanding compensation and benefits plan is offered to the selected candidate, including a base salary of $144,000 plus commission and bonus/profit sharing. Partners are able to buy-in to the Partnership after 12 months of successful performance.
