2023-2024 Application Cycle

Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the class is full. Applicants are encouraged to submit early for priority consideration for scholarships and to ensure there are still seats available in the class.

Application Requirements

  • Transcripts

    Unofficial transcripts may be submitted for evaluation purposes. If admitted and you choose to matriculate, official transcripts must be submitted from all colleges or universities attended. Translated copies must be submitted for International students.

    Grade of “C” or better in each prerequisite course. (See the list of required prerequisite courses below.)

  • Resume or Current curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Personal Statement (2-3 pages in length), double-spaced. The applicant should address the following:

    Why are you interested in pursuing the Masters in Human Genetics and Genomic Data Analytics?

    What do you think is the most exciting development in the field of genomics since the Human Genome Project, and how will this development affect the field of medicine, and specifically clinical genomics, in the future?

  • Three letters of recommendation

    Letters should be from individuals who are familiar with your accomplishments, strengths, weaknesses, personal character, and potential for success in the Genomic Data Analytics program.

  • Written and oral communication skills will be assessed through both the personal statement and faculty interview.
  • English Language Proficiency

    International students are required to submit official scores from one of the following tests of English language proficiency: TOEFL, PTE, IELTS, or iTEP. Students who have studied at a U.S. institution for more than two years and those from a country where English is the primary or official language are exempt from this requirement. Unofficial copies and self-reported scores may be submitted for evaluation purposes. If admitted and you choose to matriculate, official copies must be submitted.

    Duolingo English Test: The Duolingo English Test is an online English proficiency test that can be taken online, on-demand, in under an hour for only $59. The test is taken via a computer with a camera and includes a proficiency score, video interview, and writing sample which are shared with Keck Graduate Institute when you send your results. Certified results are available within 48 hours of the test session.

Required Prerequisite Courses

The following prerequisites must be completed prior to entering the program. Courses can be completed at any university or two-year community college. If you have questions about locating a specific prerequisite, please send the following information to admissions@kgi.edu for review:

Courses in statistics, computer science, biochemistry and social science are highly recommended.

Admission Process

  • Applications will launch in September and will be reviewed on a rolling basis through the application deadline. Once reviewed, applicants are selected for an interview by the admissions committee and will interview with one or more faculty members in the MSGDA program.
  • Admitted students are required to submit a $400 non-refundable deposit to hold their spot in the program. Additionally, admissions counselors maintain contact with admitted students to ensure all official documents are received.
  • Admitted students also receive regular communication for the Admissions Office with important information about preparing for study, student life, housing, orientation, and other topics of interest.
