What first got you interested in your field of choice?

I got interested in pharmacy as a career due to my interest in direct patient care. Pharmacists are the link between the physician and the patients; they are the ones who counsel the patients on their medication therapies, follow up, and answer any questions that patients have regarding their therapeutic process. I believe that developing that kind of relationship with the patients and maintaining it is highly important in the healing process, leading me to pharmacy.

What type of obstacles have you had to overcome on the road to getting your education?

Immigrating to the U.S., I had to overcome many obstacles on the road to get where I am today. I had to learn a new language, get acclimated to the schools here, and learn how best to prepare myself for a new country's success. I had to forge my own path, make mistakes, and learn from them since I had no family members who have any prior experience in this country. I have had the opportunity to learn so much and have used what I have learned to advise those who are in the position I used to be in.

How did you know that KGI was the right school for you?

KGI felt like home. The moment I stepped into KGI on my interview day, I felt that KGI and its staff truly care about my education and provide me with the best experience in my graduate path. I loved how friendly the staff was and how committed everyone is to the success of the students.

Why did you want to become an Admissions Ambassador?

I wanted to become an Admissions Ambassador to help reach out to students who are unaware of how much KGI has to offer. I personally stumbled upon KGI by accident, completely unaware of the various programs that it has. I have had a great experience with KGI even as a first-year pharmacy student during a pandemic and would like to use my experience to help grow the KGI family.
