What first got you interested in your field of choice?

Part of me always knew that I wanted to have a career in healthcare, but I mostly struggled with what profession interested me the most. When I was in high school, I decided to start asking individuals in different professions about their experiences and shadowed some of them. After shadowing a doctor, I was hooked on medicine. I became fascinated in just how intricate the human body is and that just one tiny thing gone wrong can have huge effects on the body. I also became super interested about the advancements of modern medicine and how different diseases or conditions could be treated.

What type of obstacles have you had to overcome on the road to getting your education?

As a woman, I have been told many times (especially as I continue to further my education) that I should try to settle down “before it’s too late”. I come from a cultural background where these kinds of comments are normal. However, I also know that my parents had to work extra hard and sacrifice for my brother and I to have opportunities in America that we would not have had otherwise. That is why I hope to be an example to some of the young girls in my family, and other women struggling with these comments, that they have a right to pursue a career that they want, just like anyone else. I hope that, one day soon, future women will never have to hear such comments.

How did you know that KGI was the right school for you?

I knew KGI was right for me from the way in which faculty and staff had and continue to interact with me. When I had initially contacted an admissions counselor, they took the time to answer all of my questions and keep in contact with me through the admissions process. I really appreciated how patient and kind they were with me at that time. Since then, KGI has truly continued to prove just how amazing the faculty and staff are! As a KGI student, I feel supported and listened to in a way that makes KGI unique and amazing!

Why did you want to become an Admissions Ambassador?

When I realized how amazing KGI truly was, I had already begun to tell others of my experiences. KGI is a one-of-a-kind community that allows me to build great connections, refine my skills, and provides me an amazing education. Thus, when I had heard KGI was started a new ambassador program, I wanted to utilize this new platform to spread the word about KGI and share my experiences thus far.

What is one fun and interesting fact about you?

I really love trying my hand at new skills! For as long as I can remember I have always loved trying to teach myself new skills, especially if it involves some creativity. As a kid, I taught myself how to play the piano. Albeit, I wasn’t the best pianist, but I enjoyed learning new songs and tried my best at it. I also have been trying different forms of art like pencil drawing, charcoal drawing, oil pastel, watercolor painting, and even SFX makeup. More recently, I’ve decided to try out woodburning art and vinyl wrapping my car. I hope they turn out well and we’ll see what I try out next!
