Dear KGI Community,

Below are a few recent updates from the KGI COVID-19 Task Force.

Notification to KGI Community of Positive Case

  • If a positive case is a student, Student Affairs will communicate to all students, faculty, and staff.
  • If a positive case is an employee, Human Resources will communicate to all students, faculty, and staff.
  • Any individuals identified as “Close Contacts” to the case will receive a separate notification with additional information and instructions.  As a reminder, “Close Contact” is defined as a person who was within 6 feet of someone with confirmed COVID-19 for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or more over 24 hours or had unprotected contact with a patient’s body fluids and/or secretions during the infected person’s infectious period (2 days before illness onset, or two days before test specimen collection for asymptomatic cases, until the individual is released from isolation).
  • Cleaning and disinfecting of any exposed location will be completed.
  • Please note that all information, including the name(s) of ill persons, shared regarding any Public Health investigation is confidential to protect an individual’s privacy.

Food in Classrooms

The task force reviewed requests from multiple sources that it is increasingly challenging to have meetings during the day because of the need for our students to eat lunch and attend the meetings. We discussed the original intent of the rule, the fact that it was not a requirement by LA County, and we are making exceptions to specific rooms:

    • Building 121-1110
    • Building 121-1111
    • Building 517 – Founder’s Room
    • Building 517-104 Conference Room
    • Building 535 West Conference Room
    • Building 215-103 Conference Room

County of Los Angeles Department of Public Health Updates

If you meet the criteria outlined by the CDC, it is recommended that you get a 3rd dose of an mRNA (Pfizer or Moderna) vaccine at least 28 days after your 2nd dose of vaccine.  When possible, you should receive the same vaccine that you received for your previous 2 doses.  The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has developed forms for Self-Attestation of eligibility in English and Spanish, which are attached here:

COVID-19 Vaccine – Additional Doses and Booster Doses Self-Attestation of eligibility (English)

COVID-19 Vaccine – Additional Doses and Booster Doses Self-Attestation of eligibility (Spanish)

Please see the COVID-19 Prevention in Public Settings document to summarize mask, testing, and vaccination requirements and recommendations for customers/guests in public settings.  The rules outlined in this document are mandated by the Los Angeles County Health Officer Order.
