Dear KGI Community,
On March 30th, we issued communications protocols which provided detailed information about how KGI will notify our community of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis. While our process indicates positive cases only, we have two self-identified presumptive cases that we wanted to send you in an abundance of caution.
Case #1 On-Campus
An employee self-disclosed that they are exhibiting symptoms similar to those with COVID-19. The employee has been in contact with their medical provider and is self-isolating at home since they began showing symptoms this week. They have not had any known contact with a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, but are being treated as a presumptive case.
The employee was on campus in building 215 for less than 15 minutes on March 31st and used extreme caution when coming to campus. They opened doors with sanitizing wipes and did not come into close contact with faculty, staff, or students. Human Resources has pulled the keycard report for March 31st and have contacted all employees who may have been in the building during that time. The COVID-19 Task Force is notifying everyone of this self-identification in case they would like to self-isolate at home. If you have not been contacted by email and you were in the 215 building on March 31st , please contact firstname.lastname@example.org. Isolation is not required, but a personal choice.
Case #2 Off-Campus
A second employee self-disclosed that they have been exposed to an individual who tested positive for COVID-19 prior to the person showing symptoms of the virus. The employee has not been on campus or had contact with any KGI faculty, staff, or students since March 12th and has not shown symptoms of the virus at this time.
As a reminder, we encourage all non-essential staff or students to follow the LA County Safer at Home Order. If you need to come to campus, please follow the guidance by LACDPH on face covering. Additionally, the KGI cleaning crew continues to follow CDC cleaning protocols.
Please let us know if you have any questions and be well.
