• Asymptomatic individuals fully vaccinated or who have recovered from a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 90 days do not have to quarantine, they just have to monitor for symptoms.
  • Anyone who has symptoms following exposure, regardless of their vaccination or previous infection status, as well as asymptomatic individuals who are not fully vaccinated need to quarantine following a confirmed exposure for 10 days, even if they test negative for COVID-19 during their quarantine.
  • If a test is confirmed to be positive, the employee will be contacted by Student Health Services Contract Tracers to begin contract tracing. They will confirm the date of exposure, who they have been in contact with, etc. They are instructed to self-isolate for 10 days and contact their health care provider for additional guidance.
  • They are then able to return to work after the 10 day isolation period, if they are no longer experiencing symptoms, and provided their fever has broken at least 24 hours prior to the end of their isolation without the use of any fever-reducing medication.
  • They would not require a negative test prior to returning to work, as the virus can still linger beyond what would be considered the infectious period.
  • If someone is experiencing a symptom such as a cough or runny nose it would not necessarily require an employee to leave work/school for 10 days unless they test positive, have been exposed, or their doctor strongly believes they have COVID-19. A doctor’s note would be encouraged for any individual who has been out due to an illness.

KGI will follow the below protocol when notified of a positive case:

  • Students notify the Dean of Students at deanofstudents@kgi.edu
  • Faculty or staff to notify Human Resources at humanresources@kgi.edu
  • Patient will be contacted by KGI office to confirm correct contact information at their KGI issued email address.
  • Confirmed contact information will be shared with TCC Student Health Center who will begin contract tracing. If additional KGI community members have been exposed, contract tracers will reach out to KGI to gain access to contact information for additional community members. They will then notify those who were exposed following CDC guidelines for exposure during the infectious period.
  • If you are not contacted by the TCC Student Health Center contract tracers, you have not met the criteria for isolation due to exposure during the infectious period.
  • KGI will update the number of cases on this website as cases are reported. Once the quarantine period is released, the case will move to past cases.
