This course presents an overview of medical devices focusing on those associated with areas of high job growth. Each type of device is accompanied with discussion of healthy anatomy and physiology, associated disease states, engineering principles of operation, manufacturing practices that are unique to the device, and areas for growth and improvement. Samples of a few medical products will be shown to the students. Group projects will focus in the discussion of stakeholders including patients, physicians, and current industry players. This course material provides a foundation for development of future medical device strategies.(ALS 321)
