Genetic Counseling I and II represent sequential courses which principle issues in genetic counseling. The focus of Genetic Counseling II is designed to explore the specific aspects of practice that genetic counselors confront in their careers with application of knowledge into practice through individual and team-centered case-based learning, with a focus on advanced clinical knowledge and skill development, ethical concepts and considerations, genetic diagnosis in health care, medical documentation, clinical reasoning in practice, variant analysis and interpretation, utilization of genetic testing and emerging fields of practice. Thinking critically through a lens of cultural engagement and self-reflection will be emphasized.
