During this course, the students will continue to be exposed to the foundations of biotechnology as well as the new technologies and therapies available in the field. The microbiome has been implicated as a major player in many health areas. An array of microbiome-based therapeutics is on the market or in development. The students will explore the role of the microbiome in human health and potential therapies. The course will also focus on personalized nutrition as a way to preserve or increase health using genetic, phenotypic, medical, nutritional, and other relevant information. (ALS 483)
