This course provides a broad overview of infectious (non-viral) pathogens and human diseases they cause, with a particular emphasis on bacterial pathogens. It will enable students to gain a fundamental understanding of microbial pathogenesis, such as general classification and families of pathogens, and specific mechanisms by which selected pathogens cause diseases. The course includes both classroom instruction and laboratory safety training experience working with infectious disease pathogens. (ALS 488B)
