Artificial Intelligence in Defense Against Emerging Pandemics

Is it possible to develop a passive antibody therapy against an emerging viral pandemic by computationally predicting antibodies that might bind and neutralize a recently discovered virus?

Dr. Animesh Ray, Professor at KGI, will discuss strategies for answering this question, which has garnered an NIH Director’s Transformative Research Award in 2021. Dr. Ray will explain fundamental questions on how viruses evolve and how antibodies against viruses serve as natural selection agents in a Darwinian evolutionary game played in patients’ bodies. Dr. Ray will explain how recent progress in Artificial Intelligence helps us answer these questions.
