What distinguishes a successful investor from an unsuccessful one? Join us to hear what Tom McKissick has learned over his 33+ year career regarding how to increase your chances of successfully navigating the financial markets.
Tom McKissick began his finance career in 1985 at Trust Company of the West (TCW), a Los Angeles–based asset management company with a current portfolio valued at $235B, as an equity analyst. He was a senior analyst in industries including energy, consumer products, industrial, aerospace, airline, retail, hotel/gaming, utilities, and real estate. In 1991 he progressed to a role as co-portfolio manager of a $2 billion fund of institutional capital to invest in publicly owned companies. He also assisted in TCW’s product expansion into foreign markets in Asia, primarily China, making several trips to Asia and Europe for this purpose.
In 1996, Mr. McKissick assumed the role of Group Managing Director and founded a new value investment strategy for TCW through which he grew the Value Fund to $9B. He was responsible for all investments and all client relations spanning the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Mr. McKissick also managed the investment team that provided research for all investments and marketing materials, a position he held until he retired from TCW in June of 2018.
Mr. McKissick played PAC 12 baseball and graduated from UC Berkeley with a BA in Political Science in 1984. He is currently the proprietor of Kaho Management and focuses primarily on stock market investing, real estate, loans/credit, and crypto currencies.
