Please join us for our Research Seminar Series Speaker, Brett Goldsmith, CTO, Cardea Bio, Inc., presentation.
The 20th century was the century of physics and the 21st century is the century of biology. This exciting concept incorporates the idea that the shifts happening and yet to happen in biology are fundamental in nature and will lead to completely new ways of research and understanding. Legacy technology such as DNA sequencing, ELISA, and gels will evolve into new forms over the next several decades. One of the first big shifts in biology is the integration of modern electronics and our digital infrastructure directly with biochemical processes. This is initially accomplished via graphene transistors, most dramatically with the CRISPR-Chip research performed at KGI. Delving deeper into the core science of graphene integration with biology, there are still missing pieces in the technical literature and lack of fundamental understanding of how these devices work. Identifying and examining these knowledge gaps may inform us of future opportunities. This talk will focus on the progression of technical understanding starting from basic ISFETs through the newest models and understanding of graphene biosensors.
