FDA was constantly in the news in 2020, both bad and good, but many did not know the significant role the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) played within FDA during the pandemic in 2020 in getting essential medical products to proper health care providers while interdicting counterfeit and fraudulent products from being introduced into mainstream commerce. ORA’s Office of Enforcement and Import Operations or OEIO has the responsibility to be at the Airports, Seaports, Landports and international mail centers to detain, seize, destroy or refuse entry on any hazardous FDA regulated products. In addition, OEIO also has the responsibility to also monitor and try and keep the supply chain of food and medical products secured. Mr. Solis will describe the role of OEIO within FDA, talk about what type of professionals work within the office, that type of work they do – day in and day out, what OEIO did during the covid-19 pandemic, and lastly what are their priorities in 2021.
