A Message from the Board Chair

Ross Grossman, KGI Board of Trustees Chair

Dear KGI community,

We have begun the search for Keck Graduate Institute’s third president and are excited to share the process we are undertaking.

This search was not a surprise. Early in 2023, the current president, Sheldon Schuster, notified the Board of Trustees that after 22 years as KGI’s president, he would retire at the end of the 2023-24 academic year. Since then, we have taken many steps to prepare for and have retained a well-established search firm to help us identify potential successors.

I can assure you that this search process will be thorough and inclusive, including the involvement of a broad-based search committee representing stakeholders throughout the Institute. The committee will include members representing faculty, staff, students, leaders, and alums who will work together to determine the attributes desired for KGI’s next president, collect community input, screen and interview top applicants, and work with the Board of Trustees to make the most informed decision.

On behalf of the KGI Board of Trustees, I am proud to lead the search committee and will announce the rest of the committee soon, along with additional details, registration for listening sessions, and other ways our community can provide feedback about this search.

We look forward to working with the KGI community to find the right person to lead KGI toward new horizons, innovations, and accomplishments in the years ahead. We invite you to contribute to the search and contact us using the feedback link on the right.

Sincerely,

Ross Grossman
Chair, KGI Board of Trustees
