KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences: New Name Reflects Program Expansion July 23, 2018 Share: Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) President Sheldon Schuster announced today that KGI’s pharmacy school has been renamed the KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences (SPHS). “KGI continues to develop innovative degree programs that align with the workforce needs of industry,” said Schuster. “The name change to KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences reflects the broadened scope of the school, which already includes PharmD and two new genetics degree programs.” On July 5, 2018, Schuster announced that the KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences received accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, making KGI one of only two accredited schools of pharmacy and health sciences within the state of California. KGI’s inaugural class of Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) students received their degrees this past May. In August, the first classes will be held for the Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling and the Master of Science in Human Genetics and Genomic Data Analytics programs. “The KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences prepares our students to be at the forefront of industry, technology, and patient care,” said Founding Dean Kathy Webster. “With experiential education and unique collaboration with other KGI degree programs, we will continue to prepare students for impactful careers.” The KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will celebrate its new PharmD students at the 5th Annual White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, August 25. The new genetics students will participate in orientation on Thursday, August 30. For more info about the KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, visit kgi.edu/sphs.
