White Coat Ceremony to Feature Dr. Tony Chan as Keynote Speaker

The Keck Graduate Institute (KGI) School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is proud to announce that Dr. Tony Chan, PharmD, will be the keynote speaker at the annual White Coat Ceremony to be held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center.

“Dr. Chan and his wife, Dr. Virginia Chan, are generous supporters of the pharmacy community,” said Martin Zdanowicz, Dean of the KGI School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. “They set an example of entrepreneurship, service, and generosity for our students, and we are honored to have Dr. Chan address our newest class of future pharmacists.”

Dr. Chan is the president of the ABC Pharmacy Group, which serves thousands of patients annually. He has served on several boards, including the University of the Pacific and Western University of Health Sciences.

“We are incredibly pleased that Dr. Tony Chan will serve as our keynote speaker at the sixth annual White Coat Ceremony,” KGI President Sheldon Schuster said.

“His commitment to patient care and the community will serve as inspiration for our community of faculty, staff, and students.”

KGI’s White Coat Ceremony is held each year when new students enter into the PharmD program. During the ceremony, colleagues already in the profession give each student a white coat, signifying the beginning of the student’s career in pharmacy. For students whose parents are pharmacists, the white coat is given by that respective parent.

Committed to ensuring each student is prepared for a successful career, KGI’s Doctor of Pharmacy offers concentrations and a certificate program that include: Healthcare Management, Medical and Clinical Affairs, Medication Therapy Outcomes, and Pharmacy Informatics.

The 2019 White Coat Ceremony will start at 3 p.m. at the Sheraton Fairplex Conference Center, which is located at 601 W. McKinley Ave., Pomona, CA 91768.
