Amita Goel has over 25 years of industry experience as a scientist with increasing management responsibilities at companies like Elan Pharmaceuticals, Arresto Biosciences, and Gilead where she headed the development of mammalian cell lines and manufacturing processes for several biotherapeutics for preclinical and clinical programs like Oncology, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and Immuno Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF).
Goel founded Celltheon Corporation in the heart of Silicon Valley, to address the challenges the industry was facing – high cost of manufacturing, long timelines, and low expression. She developed Celltheon’s SMART Expression Technology ™ (several patents pending) that now results in high titers, reduced timelines and reduced manufacturing costs and has been used to develop cell lines and processes for a number of companies leading Biologics. Celltheon has recurring clients from large Global Pharma to mid-size biotech companies to small biotech companies.
Goel holds a BS from Texas Tech University and a master’s from San Jose State in Microbiology and has authored several publications and won awards for her distinguished achievements at various institutions and pharma. She is also on KGI’s Amgen Bioprocessing Center Advisory Board (ABCAB). She also enjoys teaching and mentoring students.
