Jay Stout started Sage BioSolutions in 2018 to address manufacturing and supply chain challenges in the biopharmaceutical industry. Dr. Stout has over 25 years of biopharmaceutical development and large-scale biologics manufacturing experience. Prior to starting Sage BioSolutions, Dr. Stout was senior vice president technical operations at Versartis, senior vice president of manufacturing at SanBio, and executive director and Distinguished Scientist in the Center for Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing Sciences at Merck (2008-2016). At Merck, Dr. Stout successfully licensed the first immune-oncology product, Keytruda, in the United States. Prior to Merck, Dr. Stout held positions of increasing responsibility at biopharmaceutical companies including Amgen, Pfizer, and BioNebraska (Restoragen). Dr. Stout has been involved in the scale up, technology transfer, and licensure of more than ten biologics products in more than twenty manufacturing facilities. Dr. Stout has a PhD in chemistry and biochemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and MS and BS in chemistry from the University of Iowa.
