Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw is the founder and Chairperson of Biocon, India’s largest publicly listed biopharmaceutical enterprise, established through a growing partnership with KGI. Mazumdar-Shaw holds a BS with zoology honors from Bangalore University and a master’s degree in malting and brewing from Ballarat College, Melbourne University. She has also received several honorary degrees from colleges and universities worldwide for her pre-eminent contributions in the field of biotechnology.
Mazumdar-Shaw’s philanthropic initiatives are directed at making a difference in the lives of marginalized communities through Biocon Foundation’s primary healthcare centers, telemedicine initiatives, health awareness programs, public health and sanitation initiatives, and preventive screenings for oral and cervical cancer.
