Ryan Bethencourt is a co-founder and CEO at Wild Earth, bringing years of experience in leading, building, and advising high-growth food and biotechnology companies. Bethencourt is a biotech entrepreneur, investor, and one of the founders of the biohacker movement. He’s a co-founder and former Program Director at IndieBio and has invested in over 70 early stage biotech startups and served as the head of life sciences at the XPRIZE Foundation. As an ethical vegan, Bethencourt is passionate about the future of biology as a technology, applied across all industries to solve some of humanity’s most intractable problems. Bethencourt fosters dogs for Rocket Dog Rescue and is passionate about mindfulness, meditation, and mentoring. His work at the interface of science, food, and business has been covered by many major publications.
Bethencourt also previously worked in the biopharmaceutical industry where he partnered on and developed novel drugs from IND submission to FDA approval with companies such as Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi, Takeda, Amgen, and Genentech. Bethencourt received a BSc in Biological Sciences (Molecular Genetics) at Warwick University followed by a Masters in Bioscience Enterprise (MBE) from Cambridge University in 2002-2003. Bethencourt also has a Certificate in Project Management for Biopharmaceuticals received in 2011 from the University of California, Berkeley.
