Todd is the Research Director for the Crop Genome Engineering group at DuPont Pioneer, leading teams located in Johnston, IA and Hayward, CA. The Crop Genome Engineering (CGE) group provides genetic modification services in crop species, such as corn, wheat, sorghum and soybean, in support of all Pioneer biotech trait programs. In addition, the CGE team explores new technologies to improve our processes for precise and efficient genome modification. Todd joined Pioneer in December, 2010 after 7 years with BASF Plant Science in Research Triangle Park, NC, as the Tech Center Leader for Cell Biology. Prior to working for BASF Plant Science, Todd was the Director of Forest Biotechnology at Weyerhaeuser Company located in Federal Way, WA. Todd started his career at DuPont in 1989, fresh from a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California-Berkeley. Todd received his Ph.D. in Plant Developmental Biology from the University of California at Davis in 1988.
