Travis S. Schlappi, PhD, joined the KGI Henry E. Riggs School of Applied Life Sciences in September 2017 as an Assistant Professor of Medical Diagnostics. Dr. Schlappi received his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University in 2011 and his PhD from the California Institute of Technology in 2017, both in chemical engineering. For his PhD research, Dr. Schlappi was selected as a finalist in the National Inventors Hall of Fame Collegiate Inventors Competition and also chosen for Diagnostics World’s Early Innovator Award. His research at KGI focuses on developing medical diagnostics and therapeutics that benefit patients in limited-resource settings without access to hospitals or modern healthcare technology.
