Come to Claremont
We have designed this Welcome Packet to help guide you on your transition to the US. KGI is proud to host the Oasis Residential Commons, located directly on the KGI campus. This brand new “living and learning” community boasts onsite study lounges, a fitness center, swimming pool and barbeque area, and multiple laundry rooms. Spaces are given on a first-come, first-served basis so it is recommended to apply as soon as possible.
Securing housing well in advance of your arrival is quite important. While we recommend exploring the Oasis Residential Commons, you may decide to explore living off campus. The Claremont Colleges Services has compiled a Housing Resources page to help you in this search. We have also assembled a list of local homestay services that you may wish to contact.
International Place of the Claremont Colleges also offers airport pickup and temporary host family services. Through the temporary host family program, you can stay with a host family for a few days, during which time you can adjust to the Claremont community and finalize housing processes. Look for emails from International Place on the deadline to register for these services. I-Place can also be reached at (909) 621-8344 or (909) 607-7868 or via email at email@example.com should you have any questions.
Please also see the Pre-Departure Information handout for more helpful tips on coming to KGI.
Make a Friend
The First Friends program aims to connect current and recent alum of KGI with incoming international students in an attempt to share information, experiences, and to begin reinforcing your networks. You will be receiving your match’s name in email near the start of the Fall semester and are encouraged to contact him/her as soon as possible.
After you obtain your visa and make your flight arrangements, please contact us to book an international student check-in appointment. Email firstname.lastname@example.org with 2-3 dates and times you can meet between the hours of 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday. We recommend completing international check in the week before orientation begins.
