Here at KGI, we take pride in our rich cultural diversity. We believe that the future leaders of life sciences are best prepared by sharing common knowledge with people from different backgrounds, ethnicities, and perspectives. We are committed to assisting you throughout your time with us, and invite you to explore just some of the reasons KGI is a smart choice for international students.

The Office of International Student Services (OISS) plans several activities every month to allow you to explore your surroundings. With trips to amusement parks, museums, cultural events and festivals, and other popular destinations, we help you make the most out of your time at KGI. We encourage you to visit our International Student Experience page to hear first-hand experiences from a KGI international student. All students also have access to International Place of the Claremont Colleges (I-Place), the hub of international student activity for all seven Claremont Colleges! We encourage you to take part in the activities and workshops they offer throughout the year, meet other 7C students, and perhaps even join one of the many clubs and organizations available.

Professional and Personal Development

The OISS hosts several learning opportunities to help you build your human capital and facilitate employability. Our employment workshops educate you about the rules and procedures relating to working in the US, including Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT) employment, and Academic Training. Our Lunch and Conversation series will help you improve upon awareness and identity and enhance your quality of life in the US.

Whether you’re an admitted student or a current student, we have great resources for you! You can learn about specific immigration policies and procedures, download checklists to guide you through immigration procedures, and obtain forms needed to conduct immigration transactions (i.e. transferring to KGI or obtaining work authorization). You’ll find the proper forms on our Admitted Students or Current Students pages, and are welcome to explore these resources now.

Our International Student Advisor is available to answer questions and advise you on procedures relating to immigration, employment, and social security, among other things.
