As a lead supplier of reagents, labware and laboratory equipment, Thermo Fisher Scientific uniquely addresses the laboratory environment and workflow. Their mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. We help our customers accelerate life sciences research, solve complex analytical challenges, improve patient diagnostics and increase laboratory productivity. Thermo Fisher is looking into new methods of automating mammalian cell culture protocols in order to streamline research and address customer needs. These needs have been identified through a series of voice of customer interviews. Our team at KGI was tasked with collecting interview data concerning what pain points should be addressed in a new automation device. We successfully identified the most pressing issues, assisted with ideation of a few product concepts, and analyzed data pulled from customer concept interviews. The team completed the project by making recommendations on prioritization of product concepts leading to a more in-depth product development process. Finally, the team performed risk analysis to project the potential impact of the new product. This includes looking into potential product synergies and competitive analysis.
